1900 Series Water Meters
ISTEC's 1900 Series Water Meters are ideally suited to measure the flow of irrigation, well water, and even extremely polluted water. The practical design allows metering of liquids with up to 30% suspended solids. The meter body is coated with epoxy paint and a self-cleaning turbine assures perfect operation in tough environments. The vacuum-sealed counter has large, easy to read numbers and is non-resettable.
The meters range in size from 2" to 10" and can be mounted horizontally, inclined, or vertical (up or down flow). Remote reading capability can easily be retrofitted onto the flow meter.
The factory-tested measuring insert is the same for all meter sizes with the following measuring accuracies:
Qmax-Qt: ±3% (Value Class A+B)
Qt-Qmin: ±5% (Value Class A)
The Roller Counter is fully encapsulated and protected from dirt and moisture. The meter comes with a lockable metal cap which protects the counter under dirty conditions. The 1900 Series Water Meter can be ordered with or without a Pulser but can also be retrofitted in the field. The meter can be mounted either horizontally or vertically.

- Before beginning the installation, verify that the system temperature, pressure and flow rate do not exceed the ratings indicated on the meter.
- The meter is designed to operate at a sustained flow of approximately half the Maximum Flow Rating (indicated as the Continuous Flow Rating). The meter should not be operated at the Maximum Flow Rating for more than one hour per day as excessive wear and/or failure will result.
- Flush the pipeline thoroughly after any plumbing changes to eliminate the possibility of foreign materials reaching the meter.
- The 1900 Series meters may be installed in horizontal, inclined or vertical pipelines (either up or down flow). The meter (and pipe) must always be completely filled with liquid. To achieve the rated accuracy, the meter should be the same diameter as the pipe and there should be at least five (5) pipe diameters of straight pipe before and after the meter. In horizontal installations, the flow counter should be facing straight upward.
- Pay careful attention to the flow direction as indicated by the arrow cast into the meter body.
- It is recommended that a shutoff valve be located before and after the meter to facilitate service.
- Care should be taken to protect the meter from water hammer as well as freezing temperatures.
- The counter is calibrated in U.S. gallons and cannot be reset. It will roll around to zero after reaching its maximum reading. See page 2 for additional information on the counter.
- Meters with a pulse output contain a magnetically driven “dry contact type” reed switch. Each contact closure is equal to one (1), ten (10) or 100 gallons of water as indicated on the meter. The electrical rating of the switch is 0.2 amps at 24 volt.
